First Lie, Then Deny

Posted by Dan on May 17, 2011

With 150+ citizens listening, GH Co. Comm. Herb Welch’s and Rep. Brian Blake’s statements OPPOSING wild oly were HUGE hits along with Aber. City Councilwomen’s Kathi Hoder’s emotional story of opposition, Forks Mayor Byron Monohon and City Attorney Rod Fleck’s pointed 17 pages of CONCERNS and repeated jabs at Sara (who was there) and Norm, Lk. Quinault School Super. Rich Dubois’s decimating portrayal of how “wildness” has sent the local area in a downward spiral, the economy, jobs , schools, the future.

Resident John Olson kicked off the mtg. with history of Gov. decisions/actions/lack of that have affected Quinault, Harold Brunstad  piled layers and layers of the Bureaucracy we face on the forest to do anything, Bill Pickell dancing across the floor (the mike had totally failed by now) energized by the newspaper article reporting the ridiculous actions of enviros to now wanting to keep the people out of a newly formed wilderness up by Seattle, I was glad I was there. Ooooh ya Jon Owen and Jason Baucher (eagle scout “from” Quinault") were there and Jason did 4 min after Connie Galant’s (wild oly leader) 1 min.

During Q & A, the crowd ONLY wanted to hear from Jon, not Jason, from their side. After 45 min. of ????? the crowd wanted Jon to ACTUALLY answer the ? – not smooze and spit out the gum, he did the gum – but not the truth or answer the ?. He did wake me up, towards the end by repeatedly using my name, Dan, Dan, Dan ....... in reference to changes I correctly proposed be made to their plan. The most recent, he emphasized was the one they made “just yest.” on the E. Fork Hump. where I pointed out they were incorrect in trying to place Moonlight Dome Wilderness over a 5 mile road segment, that Harold got into travelway status (unofficial trail) and on the some 1000 acres of previously harvested, flat, hi-bench forestland that needed to be harvested, thinned for DFC (bird & wildlife habitat). On Wed., on live radio, he told me that they had already agreed to this with me – I denied, they were not willing to go that far, only 1/2 way up the road segment – now in front of 150 people he says they agreed “yest” after looking at FS records that show Dan was correct again & again........... strangest argument strategy! Same thing he did at Aber. City Council in April. NOTE: he did NOT say they agreed to timber harvest! He did add they were even willing to go as far as making it a Trail, guess what – then it wouldn’t be a ROAD for use for tree harvest! A travelway would be. What a CON!

First LIE – then DENY – now a CON – and this is OPEN & HONEST public input. Dan

Hi, I was driving through the Quinalt area recently on vacation. I'm a Washington native considering moving back to my home state. I saw all these signs and decided to look things up to see what it was about.

I'm looking for organized and good data to read on the topic. So far everything I read is fairly full of rhetoric and very unhelpful. I read a lot about a stifled economy however, I've not noticed this area to be change based on the amount of land that is protected.

I love the land here and I've spend the last four years in Kentucky fighting to save land in the Appalchians. Kentucky's state government isn't interested in a sustainable economic development so we are welcoming the federal regulations that are protecting our precious natural resources.

I want to see how this situation is different. I'm not worried as much about local citizens as I am about corporations coming in and exploiting the land. Therefore I tend to believe that federal protection is a good thing.. However, I am not educated enough in the subject so I am not saying I have a stance. I just would love to be directed to good data, not rhetoric.

Thanks!

Collette I am in the same boat as you. Literally. I'm in Hawaii and moving back next year. The debate is passionate. The stuff I read here confuses me more. Please email me if you wish and perhaps we can figure something out. I wish I was at these meetings.

Collette and Scott, I too am a native Washingtonian, but I have been living here most of my life. This all has to do with the United Nations governance called Agenda 21, which was signed by Obama by executive order on July 19, 2010. This governance is also called International Council of Local Environmental Initiatives or ICLEI.org for so called "sustainable development" and has UN rules and regulations. The biggest thing about the UN's ICLEI and sustainable development is that the United Nations DOES NOT believe in private property ownership, and that all of the United States resources belongs to the International Community and as such we will NO longer be able to own land or our own home. The United Nations wants to take over the resources of our country to benefit themselves, and a One World Government. Need more reading go to StevensCountyAssembly.com. Farmers, ranchers and land owners here in Stevens County on the eastside of the state are very aware what our government is trying to do. Our government wants to take away Our Sovereignty, our birthrights and our legal rights and We Can Not Let Them Do That To Us!!

Olympic National Park cannot maintain what they currently have. Just another land grab by our federal government. The National Park Service's actions in the Quinault Valley are criminal. Enough is enough!
