Aberdeen City Council

I went before the Aberdeen City Council last night asking them to form a resolution to oppose the wild oly “con-pain”, it went really well. A resolution is being drafted and will be brought back to the council on Wed. APRIL 13TH, for public comment and a vote by the council. We need to have people there in support of this resolution!! This will also be wild oly’s chance to make their case. We are working to do the same for all other cities and esp. the County Commissioners whose land they represent is most directly effected by the Wilderness and Wild & Scenic designations in the W. Fork Humptulips Thinning and should be in the E. Fork as well. Currently the FS is to afraid of the enviros to try a project proposal, I am pushing this one hard with enviros, IF you really truly care about the enviroment and want Desired Future Conditions(DFC) then you have to support thinning in the E.Fork.
This will be a main theme when the enviro coalition comes before the GH Chamber’s Gov. Affairs committee again, they have agreed to come back to the table for an “open” and ”honest” exchange with our coalition, date to be determined.
The Leadership GH Business and Commerce debate before the 20+ leaders of the Harbor is Fri. at 10am for 1hr. I think they will bring in someone with Al, it will be a great experience for the group to see an active debate on a business-job-taxes-land use issue that effects them and GH. I’m looking forward to this one
I had asked The Daily World editor Doug Barker, he used to be the reporter on FS issues 20 yrs. ago, for a chance to come in and talk to him after my exchange with Steven over the mistakes, and Stevens unwillingness to listen to our side, Doug thought that was a great idea, something they should have done to be equal with the three enviros that did the same. On Fri. at 1:30 we will meet with The Daily World board for a discussion, Q & A and get our side on the table. Steven will be there reporting and writing article. He and I had a very good, friendly talk at City Council mtg. last night.
Today I am meeting with wildlife bio. that is very concerned on the effects this lock-up of multi-use forest land would have on wildlife. Dan
